Fransaian Youth Mission (FYM)

The Fransalian Youth Mission (FYM) of the Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales in Northeast India was flagged off in 1995 with a passionate vision: to evangelize and re-evangelize the youth, empowering them to transform their lives and, in turn, society.

FYM seeks to shape young hearts and minds by nurturing leadership, strengthening faith, and providing practical opportunities for growth. Through youth camps, leadership training, animation programmes, career guidance, self-employment initiatives, teacher training, youth retreats, faith formation, evangelization through music ministry, and coaching classes, FYM reaches out to young people across diverse backgrounds.

Its special focus includes school and college students, Catholic youth associations, school dropouts, unemployed youth, working youth, and those who feel disillusioned or demoralized.

Leadership & Growth

Fr. Jimmy Mathirampuzha was appointed the first Director of FYM, carrying forward its inspiring motto:
“Live Love: Give Jesus.”
He served until 2003, laying a strong foundation for youth ministry in the region.

Since 1998, the Province has consistently assigned dedicated priests to the youth apostolate, including Frs Jimmy Mathirampuzha, John Barman, Milikius Tirky, and Ronesh Narzary. In addition, a team of young MSFS priests was formed to animate and organize youth programmes in parishes under the umbrella of FYM.

On July 19, 2014, Fr John Barman was appointed Director, further strengthening the mission and expanding its outreach initiatives.

Youth for Peace

In collaboration with the Fransalian Agency for Social Care and Education in India (FAsCE India), FYM launched the impactful programme “Youth for Peace Building” — a training initiative for Peace Volunteers in Northeast India. As part of this effort, Peace Clubs have been established in several mission parishes, fostering harmony and reconciliation among communities.
