St. Francis de Sales School Nongalbibra
St. Francis de Sales School, Nongalbibra, was established in 1979 with 55 students and three teachers. In its early years, no school fee was collected from the students. The school was later upgraded to an English Medium institution in 1993, marking an important step in its development.
Today, the school has grown into a full-fledged institution recognized by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) and also serves as an HSLC Examination Centre for nearby schools. The first batch of Class X students appeared for the board examination in 1992.
The school currently has around 1000 students, supported by over 30 teaching staff and several non-teaching staff. Students come from diverse backgrounds, with Catholics, other Christian denominations, and students of other faiths studying together in a spirit of harmony.
Over the years, the school has steadily expanded its infrastructure. Additional classrooms, a school canteen, bus service for students from distant areas, and a playground have been developed with the support of well-wishers and government initiatives. Contributions from leaders such as late P. A. Sangma through the MPLAD scheme and Madam Debora Marak, MLA and Minister of Social Welfare, have also helped in improving facilities, including computer education and drinking water projects.
Through its dedication to quality education, discipline, and value formation, the school continues to play a significant role in the educational development of the region.
