SFS Seminary, Medziphema

During the years 1992–1993, Vinaya Bhavan Seminary also functioned as the MSFS Novitiate. At that time, Fr. Jose Mundoly served as the Novice Master, while Fr. Sebastian Neendukunnel assisted him as the Socius. Later, the Novitiate was shifted to Chabua, where it continued its formation programme.

SFS Seminary, Medziphema

SFS Seminary, Medziphema, was established in February 1988 with Fr. George Parampukattil as its first Rector. The primary purpose of the seminary was to promote and nurture local vocations in the North East region.

In its early stage, the seminary functioned as an Apostolic School, admitting students from Class VIII to Class X who expressed interest in the priestly vocation.

The seminary was formally inaugurated on November 14, 1998, by Rev. Fr. Emile Mayoraz, the Superior General of the Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales.

Minor Seminary Programme

From 2012 onwards, the institution began functioning as a Minor Seminary for aspirants who had already completed one year of orientation at Vinaya Bhavan Seminary in Kerala.

The seminarians at Medziphema pursue their two-year higher secondary education (Class XI–XII) at SFS Higher Secondary School.

The seminary has also achieved commendable academic success. In 2016, the seminarians performed exceptionally well in the Nagaland Board Examination. Out of 13 students, eight secured First Division, while the remaining students obtained Second Division, marking a notable academic achievement for the institution.
