Guwahati Province
The Guwahati Province is one of the Indian Provinces of the Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales (MSFS), inspired by the spirituality of St. Francis de Sales and founded in the missionary vision of Peter Marie Mermier.
Originally, it formed part of the undivided Northeast India Province, which became a full-fledged Province in 1990. Over the years, the Northeast India Province witnessed remarkable growth in the number of confreres and the expansion of new mission centres. This steady and phenomenal development called for more effective animation of religious life, ministries, and missionary outreach.
Responding to this need, the Northeast India Province was divided into two Provinces: Guwahati Province and Dibrugarh Province. The Guwahati Province now comprises the Northeastern states of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura.
Today, with around 140 professed members, the Guwahati Province is actively engaged in the service of the Church across Northeast India. Through pastoral ministry, education, evangelization, and social outreach, the confreres continue to live the Fransalian charism of gentleness, humility, and apostolic zeal, striving to bring the love of Christ to every community they serve.
Rooted in prayer and fraternity, the Province remains committed to building faith-filled communities and responding generously to the missionary needs of the region.
